Week in Brittany as a Modal Music Instructor

During the first week of March 2026, I had the chance to be invited to Brittany as a guest instructor in modal music, working with two groups as part of the Parcours Musique Modale and the Kreiz Breizh Akademi.
During the week, we explored together some aspects of Québécois traditional fiddle that I’m particularly passionate about: modality, different modes, and the unique colors found in the playing of many fiddlers. There was a lot of music, exchange, and time spent playing together.
While I was there, I also had the opportunity to play a house concert, which turned into a really nice and intimate musical moment. I was also able to attend La Nuit de la Ridée, an important event in the Breton traditional music scene.
A full and inspiring week, filled with music and good encounters.
Thanks to the Drom association, and especially to Emmanuelle Bouthillier, for the invitation and the warm welcome.
